Monument to the Second Infantry Regiment
“Knjaz Mihailo”
The monument was raised in the village of Igriste in October 2016 as part of the Second Infantry Regiment “Knjaz Mihajlo”, which gained immortal fame in the wars of 1912 to 1918.
When the general mobilization was announced in 1912, 17 young men from this village, embracing and singing, went on foot to their mobilization gatherings, which were more than 50 km away. Of the 17, only three returned.
There was no house without a black flag. In memory of these brave soldiers, 17 spruces were first planted and a monument was erected to the entire “Iron Regiment”, under whose flag the ancestors of the locals of the village of Igriste fought, defending their homeland, village and dignity.
